Good on you, Clive. I've been very impressed with Nathan Cullen. He looks and sounds like a leader. His ideas are appropriate for the times. I can see him taking the NDP into government. I can't see any of the others doing that.

cheers /doug

Great article. Thanks for the post!
Also, we must not forget that trams (streetcars) are an enormous contributor to economic development. As an example, just look what has been occurring in Portland! :)
Wherever a streetcar is present, you'll see not only pedestrian life and family-friendly environment, but also lots of retail, shops, stores, cafes and restaurant; trams are a magnet for developers thanks to the permanent presence of the tram route, including tracks and overhead wiring.
Trams are a win-win situation for any city!

Love your web site. So much more intelligent reasons to LOVE trams than that other web site with its bogus reasons to hate trams.
We currently have a short 'tourist' and local community fun tram line. Problem is, we can't afford to extend it to another local attraction. Can anyone suggest specifically where to get funding to build more tram lines?

I enjoyed listening to your rant.

Your reference to Michel Bellemare and his stand against Lansdowne was missing one very important fact - he was booted out of office and replaced by a councillor who supports the Lansdowne redevelopment. Why did you forget to mention this important fact?

Dear Mr. Doucet,

I have found your books a special pleasure since I discovered them this summer. You have a rare gift of combining lyricism and brevity. It adds to the distinctness of your authorial voice, and the power of your writing. These things make your blog compelling as well.

It seems to me that other authors would have taken hundreds of pages to do what you did so concisely in 'Before Star Wars' or 'Lost and Found in Acadia.'

I started looking into Acadian literature hoping to better understand Canadian multi-culturalism. I'm from Buffalo NY, my wife from outside Quebec City. Of all the assorted Canadian literature I've read, yours is some of the most open and engaging.

Next week I will visit Ottawa for the first time for the ACSUS conference. I'm hoping I can get a copy of 'Canal Seasons' while we are on the canal.

Thanks for giving me so much reading pleasure.

Hi Clive

I am working to let people know that the City is about to re-set it's greenhouse gas reduction targets. More info here.

I know you feel strongly on the issue and also that many people are attentive to what you have to say so I wanted to bring it to your attention in hopes that the information reaches a wider audience.

Whatever the outcome, thanks for considering this.

Cheers
Charles

PS good to hear you on the radio this AM

Many cities have a fascinating history; and London, England, is definitely among them. I look forward even moreso to visiting this city someday; though such a goal is years down the road.
